Is it OK to come to Metro if I’m not a Christian?

Absolutely! We encourage you to visit and see what God, Christianity, and Metro is all about. We love having visitors, and hope you’ll feel welcomed here.

Metro seems pretty big, how do I get plugged into the church?

Whether you’ve been coming for a while, or you’re new to Metro and want to get plugged in and tapped into the community better – you can click on the “Get Connected” or “Get Involved” tabs on this site to read more about the different ministries and activities we have – or you can get in touch with our “Connections Pastor” – Abe Kim to ask more specific questions, and he’ll be sure to steer you in the right direction.

How accessible is the pastoral staff?

The pastoral staff (Peter Ahn, Stephen Sharkey, Abe Kim, and Koo Chung), outside of a few times during the year when they need to travel, will most likely be in the church office during the week – and will be glad to make appointments if you ever need to talk. Not only that, but every Sunday after service, there is prayer time where at least one of the pastors are available, and there is also what we call “Newcomer’s Quick Stop” where Abe Kim and Peter Ahn are both available, giving a quick introductory session on what Metro is all about!

Pastor Shirley You (MetroKids!) is also great about making herself available throughout the week if you ever need to get in touch with her and talk about how your child is doing in MetroKids!

You can find our contact info here.

Too old? Too young? Where do I belong?

Metro is not only diverse culturally, but we have quite an eclectic group of people in all stages of life. In our main services, we have a range of early-twenties single professionals and newlyweds all the way to couples who’ve been married for many years with kids. While we love being in the larger community together, at times it is easier to relate to people in similar circumstances. During the “school year”, we have a wide range of Underground Groups (small groups) that meet on a weekly basis, that you can choose from. Some are for married couples and some are for detailed scripture studies (we even have one for learning how to be better stewards with our money). You can get plugged into any one of them. This summer, we launched our “Young Adults Ministry” as well as a “39+ Club” so that we can continue to enjoy being in community outside of Sunday services.

You can get in touch with Pastor Abe Kim for more details.

Is there a dress code?

To set apart your very best for God on Sundays is a great thing – even your wardrobe – but that does not necessarily mean “suit and tie”. There’s no particular dress code at Metro. Come as you are!

Do I HAVE to give money to the church?

No. We do not want our newcomers to feel obligated to give an offering on Sunday. The offering that we collect on Sundays are for people who call Metro their home church. Please do not feel obligated to give; your presence is more than enough.

Is Metro “infant friendly”?

Definitely so! If your young’un gets cranky or rowdy you can feel free to walk over to our nursery (Room 116) where we broadcast the service live in HD!

Who comes out to the church?

Imperfect people – We have a diverse group of people from ethnic, socio-economic, and generational backgrounds that attend on Sundays. None of us are perfect, in fact we are far from it, and that is why we rely heavily on God’s perfect grace.
