Introducing Beyond A Building

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
— 2 Corinthians 12:9

Nearly two decades ago, God gave me a vision for a different kind of church: a church inspired by 2 Corinthians 12:9, where the “weak” and “least” of our society would be welcome and experience the perfect, transforming power of God within a shamelessly imperfect community. During our first “preview service” in 2004, I distinctly remember God telling me that as long as we stayed true to His vision, He would bring people to our church.

Fourteen years and five locations later, Metro Community Church stands as a testimony to God’s promise! From 67 people in 2004, today Metro is over 500 adults and nearly 300 youth on any given Sunday. We are officially beyond capacity at Grieco Elementary School! Furthermore, our offices in Englewood struggle to keep up with the demand from all of our various adult and student ministries, not to mention our non-profit organization, Metro Community Center, which operates through our office and provides life-transforming programs for the people of Englewood. In short - we are bursting at the seams!

While the “portable” model of doing church served us well over years, we truly believe that now is the time to change course, seize the divine moment, and partner with God to find or build our first permanent home in Englewood. This building would serve as a place of worship on Sundays and a community center for the town of Englewood from Monday to Saturday — the first community center in Englewood’s history!

Our BEYOND A BUILDING campaign will challenge, inspire, and encourage anyone who calls Metro Community Church their home church to go above and beyond for God, and work together toward building the future of His church in Englewood.

I’m so glad that Jenny and I did not say “no” when God called us to start Metro Community Church. We’ll always have the privilege of knowing that God started something so much bigger than us through a step of faithful obedience. Likewise, as this opportunity is before you, I encourage you to say “yes” to God so that you can also have the privilege of knowing that you helped advance His kingdom in a big, powerful way at a critical time because you chose to seize the divine moment in front of you.

I’m honored to be your pastor, I’m humbled to serve alongside you, and I’m excited for the future of our church BEYOND A BUILDING.

Love,
Pastor Peter
