Matriarchs of the Messiah

When we think of God’s amazing Salvation story, our natural, initial thoughts may be that it would be predictable, clean, and G-rated with good heroes and evil villains.

Surprise! This story is sometimes shocking, messy, and X-rated with imperfect, even sinful people as the main characters. Jesus’ genealogy in Matthew 1 illustrates that our “contrarian” God chooses unlikely people for his redemptive purposes, including five women – Ruth, Rahab, Tamar, Bathsheba, and Mary the mother of Jesus – who, at the time, were not only lowly regarded as females, but women of questionable backgrounds and actions.

We hope that this series will remind you that, regardless of your history, God has plans to use your life powerfully for his unique kingdom purposes.
